After taking a lengthy break from break teaching regular classes, Florencia resumes teaching her regular classes during the second week of April. During her break, Florencia returned to Buenos Aires to recharge her porteña soul.  While in Buenos Aires, Florencia worked with her ex-partner and teacher Gustavo Naveira.  Florencia said that Gustavo still surprises her with his excellence as a dancer and teacher, and that she is inspired and ready again to give the best of that experience to those in her classes.
Florencia also organizes workshops with touring instructors in Minneapolis.

Florencia's comments: In this class we will work with part of the study of tango musicality created for dancers by Gustavo Naveira that includes work on melody, narration, and what he calls "line of force." This work will enable you to the most important elements at each moment in your interpretation of the music.
What separates this musicality class from others is that it will enable you to visibly execute each tango rhythm (and there are so many of them). We will go beyond the basic rhythm, double time and syncopation to making the subtle rhythms and phrasing in the music visible in the dance.
In this class, we will be using various elements from past classes—such as sacadas, boleos, and volcadas—so you'll have an opportunity to review and refine these elements as well.
If you are an intermediate tango dancer and you have never been in my classes before or you've been gone quite awhile, it will be easier to take at least one or two series of my fundamental level classes on Thursday evenings before tackling these intermediate topics. (See Thursday class information below.)
The class will start promptly at 8:00 p.m., so plan to arrive 15 minutes ahead of the class for registration and warm up.
Intermediate classes are typically taught in a series with new topics introduced about every 6-8 weeks.
Notes: No need to have taken the previous series to participate. Partners are recommended but not required. We'll rotate partners every few songs. Whoever comes to class with a partner will have the right to stick with that partner for the duration of a class unless agreeing to participate in the rotation. Dancers without partners will mostly rotate with other dancers without partners.
All of Florencia's classes are open to women who want to lead as well as men who want to follow. The only requirement is that you bring a partner of your own size and weight so you don't hurt yourself or your partner.
Drop-in students are always welcome.

Florencia's comments: This class is dedicated to work on simple patterns, proper technique, connection with your partner and fundamental musicality that can be used to dance im milongas anywhere, including the most challenging in Buenos Aires. This class is a lot of fun. Intermediate and advanced dancers are welcome to participate in this class to reinforce their technique and meet newcomers.
Newcomers are always welcome, and they will work with the class or separately with my assistants depending on the topic.
The beginning to all levels class is best for newcomers to tango, dancers who have less than three years experience, and anyone who wants to review the fundamentals. It is also a good class for dancers who wish to switch roles—if they come with a partner of the same gender.
Beginning to All Levels classes are typically taught in a series with new topics introduced about every 6-8 weeks.
Notes: You don't need to come with a partner. We'll rotate contiuously, so everybody gets to dance with everybody else. As always, I will have my best assistants helping with the class.
All of Florencia's classes are open to women who want to lead as well as men who want to follow. The only requirement is that you bring a partner of your own size and weight so you don't hurt yourself or your partner.
